Fiscal Leadership

Financial Experience, Fiscal Awareness and Previous Leadership

In my job roles in the Keys at both the Office of the State Attorney and the Public Defender I have always kept an eye on the bottom line, and looked for and created efficiency and cost savings.

I was entrusted to serve as Acting Executive Director of the Office of the State Attorney, and have the endorsement of existing Executive Director, Nancy Criswell, who I have worked closely with over the years.

While employed by the US Army I was solely responsible for implementing the accounting system for all Child and Youth Services facilities at every Army Post is USAREUR. This included, installation, end-user training, and verification of accurate financial reporting from all these facilities back to Washington. In this job capacity I was instrumental in all aspects of capturing and reporting the financial information of these facilities from user entry, to reporting down to the G/L and Cost Center level.

Also, while employed by the US Army I was solely responsible for the survey, estimation and procurement of millions of dollars of equipment for the entire USAREUR MWR Community, and installation of MWR Point of Sale and Accounting Software.

As someone who has served on the Burlington, VT City Council, the Burlington Board of Finance, and run my own businesses, I feel I have a keen insight on municipal budgeting and fiscal responsibility.

Publicly, I have been a government watchdog, writing extensively in local papers about government waste and poor fiscal policy. I can bring these attributes to the Clerk's Office to provide cost savings and improve service to the community.
